READING SCREENPLAYS - THE SCRIPT FACTORY'S BOOK

Back in 1999, Lucy Scher pioneered the first training course for script readers. Since then The Script Factory has built a worldwide reputation for teaching workshops on how to effectively analyse screenplays.
The teaching has been constantly updated and evolved in line with industry practice over the last ten years and we are delighted to announce that all the research and thinking that Lucy and the rest of the Script Factory's training team have done has now culminated in a book.

We are pleased to announce our selection for The Serious Screenwriting Development Scheme and even more pleased that it’s not just one writer, but four! The 120 entries we received this year were of a staggeringly high standard and represented an unprecedented level of talent, commitment and genuinely cinematic ideas. With so many writers clearly deserving of the support that the Development Scheme offers, we were delighted to be able to offer three extra places on the programme thanks to support from the Skillset Film Skills Fund.

The 55th BFI London Film Festival

The 55th BFI London Film Festival will be bringing the best new films from around the wrold to London from 12 - 27 October. We're thrilled to be co-hosting two fantastic masterclasses with the NFTS. Abi Morgan, the writer previously responsible for the screen adaptation of Brick Lane as well recent TV hit The Hour joins us on Saturday 15 October to talk about collaborating with Steve McQueen on Shame. On Saturday 22 October we hear from Camera d'or winner Miranda July.

Second Light Screenwriting Lab APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED

First Light, who fund and support film projects with young people throughout the UK, and The Script Factory have teamed up to offer a unique screenwriting LAB. The Second Light Screenwriting LAB aims to support aspiring scriptwriters, from backgrounds currently under-represented within the film industry, in learning the craft of screenwriting. The LAB will comprise of a free, three-day workshop in Central London that will introduce the key concepts in building a story for film PLUS a session with a stellar industry panel - read on to find out the full line-up.

World Class Screenwriters take the BAFTA/ BFI Stage

We are delighted to announce that we will again be joining BAFTA and the BFI as Media Partner for the brilliant Screenwriters' Lecture Series. Back for a second year - the series continues to celebrate the screenwriter’s contribution to a film’s creative vision.
Seven extraordinary evenings with internationally celebrated screenwriters will take place at BAFTA and BFI Southbank in September. It all kicks off on September 13 with William Gladiator Nicholson.
